The new update of Trend Micro Scan (automatically downloaded today) now sees Alexa as a security issue and will attempt to delete the popular toolbar from your computer. Trend will pop up with an alert informing you that there is “Virus / Mallware” on your computer, and that they determined it to be a security risks but were unable to remove it completely. At this point your Alexa toolbar will have stopped working. There is now an empty scrollbar on my browser taskbar where Alexa once displayed.
I have Trend, Spybot and Adaware all installed on my computer. Trend is the only program to remove the Alexa toolbar and list it as a threat. Apparently, Trend had enough complaints from their customers about the shady doings of Alexa that they finally had to say “enough is enough” and include the program on their list of security risks.

Will other popular Anti Virus / Adware / Mallware / Spyware programs follow suit? Will this be the end of the Alexa toolbar, or will they clean up some of their tactics to get taken of “The List”?
Our IT team says “no exceptions” so it looks like I’ll be going to Alexa.com instead of using the toolbar. …Or I could install a different Firefox plug-in toolbar that includes the Alexa ranking.

Does anyone have a solution for this? We use Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007, and we would also like to use the Alexa toolbar. I guess if one has to go it’s Alexa…
