Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens has his own home gym called Bodylastics. Basically, it is a unique set of exercise bands, handles and clasps. The simplicity Bodylastics is both its downfall and its savior, which is why I believe Terrell Owens is marketing his product all wrong.
Bodylastics is being marketed as a “home gym”. Price-wise, $100 is a heck of deal for a home gym – until you realize you’re not getting a Bowflex Blaze or Ultimate II here; you’re getting some rubber bands.
Because of this obvious mental calculation (do I really want to pay $100 for some exercise bands; and do I really think I can use them as my one and only home gym?) offering them up as a home gym is a losing battle.
HOWEVER…
The Bodylastics kit is probably the best example of a portable gym I’ve ever seen. Talk about light-weight, compact, convenient and portable – this thing will fit in even your tiny carry-on bag. THAT is what the Bodylastics product is – a “portable gym” or a “travel gym” – NOT a “home gym”.
Great product. Fantastic website. Wrong value proposition.

Great Bodylastics review. You’re right, this isn’t a good “home gym” when compared to things like Bowflex Blaze or some of the Hammer Strength stuff. But for a fitness buff like me whose on the road a lot, Bodylastics is a lifesaver. This review hit the nail on the head!
I’ve never used this product, BUT, I just want to add that $100 is just the T.O. version, the regular version can be bought for about $45 before shipping and handling. Probably more useful for the average person, like myself, than for a fitness expert or someone who already has bulging muscles.
