As seen in Inc.com, Entrepreneur Magazine, and USA Today - http://www.goodsearch.com/ is a search engine with a mission: To turn millions of searches into thousands of dollars for charities around the world.
Ken and JJ Ramberg were thinking last year… “What if even a fraction of the $6 billion generated by search advertising online each year could go towards organizations trying to make this world a better place?”
That “What if” turned into GoodSearch. The site launched in 2005, but today was the first time I had heard of it. Being that I am heavily involved in the search engine advertising industry, chances are this is the first you have heard of it as well. But for about a year now GoodSearch has been donating half of every dollar made to the charities and schools designated by its users.
Yahoo, unlike Google and MSN, accept advertisers into their main results category as “paid inclusion” spots. We here at First Page Fitness have some problems with this, just as we see a problem with newspapers cleverly disguising advertisements as ‘real’ stories. We refuse to pay yahoo for spots in their “organic” search results, and therefore rank lower for terms like Fitness Marketing than we do on MSN and Google. Their loss - not ours. HOWEVER, given that GoodSearch is able to contribute to charity by skimming some of the commission from these ads, we might just have to reconsider our views on Yahoo Search.
What charity did YOU Pick?
We used MySpace as an example in the title, but the following “widget” will work on most social networking websites.
Use the FREE Jaxtr widget to get phone leads from your social networking profiles!

Jaxtr allows you to place a little logo on your profile page. When users click on the logo, they are asked to put in their phone number. Seconds later, their phone rings. When they pick-up, their phone then rings YOUR phone.
The important thing to remember is that your phone number is never revealed to the caller. You enter your number in behind the scenes, and all the caller sees is the Jaxtr logo.
You can also specify for the calls to go straight to voicemail, or to be blocked alltogether. So if you find your phone is ringing off the hook from an annoying stalker - just block their number.
According to the folks over at Jaxtr, “Social networks are a catalyst for people to meet, and jaxtr ‘jacks up’ the power of networks to help users make new connections. By putting a widget on their social network page or blog, jaxtr users can hear from callers worldwide on their existing landline or mobile phone.”
So what are you waiting for? Get on over to the Jaxtr website - which just went live TODAY - and sign up to take part in their Beta launch!

PS: Jaxtr also works for Blogs and Emails.
As many of you already know, Internet providers like AT&T and Verizon are lobbying hard to gut Network Neutrality, the Internet’s First Amendment and the key to Internet freedom. Net Neutrality prevents AT&T from choosing which websites open most easily for you based on which site pays AT&T more. So Amazon doesn’t have to outbid Barnes & Noble for the right to work more properly on your computer.
Many members of Congress take campaign contributions from these companies, and they don’t think the public are paying attention to this issue. Show them you are by contacting your congressperson and telling them to preserve Net Neutrality.

Many business owners are under the impression that search engine optimizers (SEOs) are going to “trick” the search engines in order to get a client’s web site positioned on the first page. While that may be true for a few “black hat” SEOs, many search engine optimization companies - such as First Page Fitness - understand that the best long-term strategies for ranking well with search engines are the very same strategies the search engines recommend. Thus, there is no conflict between 1: ethical optimization, 2: guidelines set forth by the search engines, and 3: achieving better rankings. All three can and do co-exist quite happily. Just ask Google:
“Many SEOs provide useful services for website owners, from writing copy to giving advice on site architecture and helping to find relevant directories to which a site can be submitted…”
The above quote was taken from a document from Google titled: What’s an SEO? Does Google recommend working with companies that offer to make my site Google-friendly? Click Here to read the full document on Google’s website. You will also find on that page some useful advice from the most-used search engine in the world about what to look out for when choosing an SEO.
You will find that the First Page Fitness SEO Policy follows the best practices laid down by all three of the major search engines.
