Great Guide to htaccess and mod_rewrite on Blogstorm

We just wanted to make our readers aware of a great post by Patrick Altoft over on Blogstorm about Mod URL Rewrites using an htaccess file. Here is more on the subject:

From experience, we know that many ecommerce sites in this industry are using Windows IIS platforms instead of Linux/Apache servers. Therefore, we are accepting comments from anyone who knows of a GREAT article about rewrites using ISAPI or other methods for performing “URL Voodo” on Windows websites.

One of the reasons you might want to do a URL rewrite, as discussed in the Blogstorm post, is to fix canonical URLs. We posted last year about why canonical URLs are a problem from a historical perspective. We also posted an entry with code used in .Htaccess to fix them.
