Off Topic: Johnny Come Lately From America’s Got Talent

Health and Fitness Products Blog

I don’t usually use this blog as my own personal journal, and it is rare that I post about anything other than fitness marketing and search engine optimization. But I have to just express how unbelievably impressed I am by this band of 15-year-olds that just appeared on America’s Got Talent.

Get ONE!

I don’t watch reality TV. Ever. But these guys were about half way through their act when I walked into the room and it stopped me in my tracks. Johnny Come Lately did a rockabilly version of Elvis’ Hound Dog and if they don’t win the entire competition I’ll be very surprised.

It never occurred to me that perhaps some real talent would ever come out of one of these shows. It seems all of the American Idol people put out a crappy pop album and then slink back into the shadows of mediocrity where they belong. Whether or not Johnny Come Lately wins the America’s Got Talent competition, doesn’t matter. Those guys probably have a dozen record producers tying up their cell phones trying to get through.

Man… I wish I was that cool when I was fifteen.

  8. A few weeks ago this group was a BIG hit at my daughter’s 6th grade class BBQ party. They had kids & parents dancing all night - they play really cool classic music. All the parents couldn’t believe they knew all those great songs. We wish them well in this contest and hope they make it BIG.

  10. I’m not impressed by these kids - sure they’re ok - but they are NOT unique nor anything special - there has been an underground music scene of rockabilly for years and MANY talented bands that aren’t even getting a sideways glance. Check these bands out:

    and SO SO MANY MORE

i’m downing on the kids - but they got a long ways to go - they need to get over being cute and start show casing some real talent!

  11. I go to school with the Johnson twins, (bass and guitar). They’re amazing boys with great ambition. I’m proud to say I know them and have followed them from their beginnings. I’m so stoked they’re going so far!!

  14. I’d like to wish Johnny Come Lately all the success in the world. The Stray Cats are/were underground?
Just because they had to make it overseas & then come back here for success, THAT makes them underground? I disagree. I’m a big SC fan & huge Brian Setzer fan. None-the-less, JCM will make a BIG impact in our wonderful world of music. I’ll be
the first in line to purchase their debut CD. “Keep
The Rock(abilly) Train Rollin’!” “Thank you.”
