Search Marketing is Like a Box of Chocolates
You never know… which search engine is going to be the dominate player in a few years. Remember Lycos and Alta-Vista? Remember the day Google opened its doors in 1998 (don’t worry, neither do I)?
The point is, right now search engine marketing professionals take it for granted that Google is the dominate player. And for good reason - they keep sucking up more and more of the share of searches, and buying up more and more of the most innovative web companies.
But what would happen if Yahoo and MSN combined forces to compete collaboratively against the Big G?
That might just happen, according to an article I read in the Wall Street Journal today.
Whether it is the introduction of an innovative algorithm, the emergence of blogs, an explosion of social networking and social media sites and the maturation of ‘web 2.0,’ the prospect of social search and personalized results, or rumors of a merger between MSN and Yahoo, search engine marketing is never, ever boring… That’s why I like my job. ![]()
