This Guy Gives SEO a Bad Name

I wish Gary Ruplinger would go “hide under a rock” somewhere and stop distributing this crap. And he’s probably going to be pissed off when I rank higher for his name than HE does because of this blog post. But that will just go to show any potential “client” who watches his video that what he offers is not going to get them “top search engine rankigns” or anything near that:

Thanks to Greg Boser for sharing this video about Mr. Ruplinger and his “services”.

Hey Niel, what do you think about this?

I see nothing wrong with digging content. But don’t fucking call it SEO! When you charge someone to submit their pages to Digg! Christ man, it’s no wonder SEO is suffering from a major PR issue. Guy’s like Gary Rubplinger are out there by the boatload.

What a freaking moron. I only made it through 45 seconds. Face it, social bookmarking brings a lot of traffic, but few leads, fewer sales, and a trickle of revenue. The post above regarding his mommy? Yeah, I can see that. This fruitcak is still wet behind the ears.

Well hi there guys. This has been an interesting past few days for me. You are, of course, entitled to your opinions, but I do want to clear one thing up. While my service does include submitting links to social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us and furl, digg is NOT among them. I’m not sure why everyone things I spam digg – I don’t. Not for me or for a client. Okay, I’m done. Proceed with your regularily scheduled bashing.

Hello Gary, how nice of you to stop by. My mistake. So you don’t charge for submissions to dig, but you do charge for submissions to del.icio.us Furl. My bad. Say, do you charge them to turn on their computers too?

OK, here’s where I’m coming from. First of all, I know it sucks to see people saying bad things about you online. But I thought it would get your attention.

Why don’t you try providing your clients with something of a little more value? Sure, my clients get submitted to Delicious, but that is isignificant compared to everything else. Instead of making a video that makes it sound like you’re doing “SEO” by submitting their website to a social bookmarking site, why not make a video explaining to them the importance of installing a Mod URL rewrite on their ecommerce server? Why not make a video telling them how you are going to do in-depth competitive analysis to find out where their greatest competitors are getting links from? Why not explain the concept of linkbait, or… if you’re going to make videos, why not come up with something like “Will it Blend”. Now THAT was a good use of viral video marketing.

Basically Gary, you’re getting ripped on because you call yourself a mechanic and then make a TV commercial about how you’ll do this wonderful new thing called “Changing tires”. It’s not new. it’s not wonderful. And if people are paying you for it, I guess they deserve what they get – which is very little.

I do see you have other interesting web properties and you’re into a bit of everything with http://www.ruplingerenterprises.com, garyruplinger.com, and some sites about xanthones… Here’s an idea. If you’re going to have three websites about the same topic, and plan on linking them ALL together, you might want to put them each on different servers so they don’t share the exact same IP.

I mean, seriously, common… How many sites do you have out there that have ONE page and are only on the internet for the sole purpose of linking to your other sites using keyword anchor text?

We’re not all angels. I know I’m not either. But what you’re doing is the type of thing SEOs did two years ago. Get with the program. If you’re going to be a spammer, don’t set up all of the domains using your own name (you like you’re name an awful lot, don’t you) Gary Ruplinger of rupligerenterprises_com, garyrupligern_com, ruplinger_net… At least you didn’t name marketingeffects_com after yourself too.

This guy dances around more than a jittery crackhead in search of a rock… He should be selling used honda’s and snake oil.
