Is Yahoo Mucking Up My 301 Redirect?
Is Yahoo Mucking Up My 301 Redirect, or is it something I’ve done wrong on my end?
I am redirecting page A to page B using a 301. The http status code comes back as Page A redirects permanently via 301 to page B and page B looks fine (200 OK). This has been translated to human-speak, but basically it means I’m doing things right, as far as the http status is concerned.
Yet, when I search for a major brand term on Yahoo, I see the listing as having the TITLE from page B, but the URL from page A ! Clicking on the link in the search result, I see that it first takes me to page A, then redirects me to page B. This redirect has been up for a few weeks, and I know Yahoo has crawled the page since then (otherwise, they wouldn’t have the new title) so I don’t understand why they are still indexing the old page - let alone the fact that it uses a different title!
Any ideas people?
