Testing Right Cart “RightCart” Code

Anyone who has had experience using Right Cart, either as a publisher or merchant, please comment on your experiences below. I am looking into this use of Right Cart for both purposes. So far, I have found their user interface for adding new products, customizing the look of their widget, etc. to be… less than perfect. But the idea itself is great:

Bloggers and content publishers can put up a RightCart widget on their site by simply dropping in a line of code - even from profiles on social networking sites like MySpace. They get paid a pre-determined amount (each merchant pays differently) any time they sell something. Funds are transferred into PayPal accounts.

Merchants can upload their products and set the amount they with to give as commission to the seller. Right Cart keeps 1% of the sale. Compare that to the cost of running an affiliate campaign on LinkShare or Commission Junction, and you’ll see why small merchants could do very well with this system.

Currently, most of the products are from Amazon and Cafe Press, but look for other merchants in the near future. I am now looking in to how LinkShare’s TOS views the use of this system by their merchants.

Any input is most appreciated.

  1. I’m not sure I really like it (as a shopper that is), it’s showing a very limited product selection, the chance of it showing something I want, is minimal, if I want to buy something I’d rather hit a reviews site or search for the product directly to get more info and a great range of options (both product and source)
