This Blog Was Not Hacked
I have had a few people ask if the FPF blog was hacked along with many other SEO blogs, including Wolf-Howl and Stundubl. To answer, NO it has not been hacked. The reason it looks strange (at the time of this writing) is because I am currently updating to the latest version of WordPress in order to close the window on the exploit that has allowed someone to Pwn these other blogs. Although my blog was not threatened, I know it is only a matter of time before some unscrupulous people decide to go on the hunt for old versions of WordPress so they can inject links to spammy porn, pills, real estate and casino sites. Although not as bad as a root canal, updating WordPress is not fun. However, it is necessary and I advise all of my readers and clients to do the same as soon as humanly possible.

Hey Everett,
Can you give us some insights on your experience upgrading Wordpress. For example did you have to redo your SEO Title tag trick previously mentioned on your blog? Did you have to reinstall and configure any plugins you use? Any help would be appreciated!

Hello Mike. When updating WP you have to deactivate all of your plug-ins and reactivate them when you are finished. If you follow the WP upgrate instructions (at the link above) step-by-step you should be OK. Whatever you do, don’t delete the files that it asks you not to delete, DO make a backup of your database, and DO make a backup of your entire blog folder or site, and don’t write over that backup.
