Running Out of Post Ideas for Your Fitness Blog?
Do you have a blog about health and fitness? Are you running out of ideas for blog posts?
We feel your pain. It’s not easy to come up with something interesting to write about day after day after day… But there are some simple tools out there to help you brainstorm ideas and gather information for some killer fitness blog posts. One of those tools is called Google Trends.
For instance, in mid-2006 (see image below) we see that the volume of searches for the term “fitness” jumped sky-high for a few days. Google Trends tells us that this is the result of - or at least has a strong correlation to - a newspaper article about Fitness for Seniors. Wow! Wouldn’t it be worth your time to write your own article / blog entry about fitness routines safe for seniors, or keeping baby boomers fit and health, or… After all, it does seem that people are interested in the topic.
The Google Trends image below shows us that people from Austin, Baltimore and Kansas City are really interested in finding “Diet” information online. This may or may not make total sense (depending on how you look at it) when you consider:
- Baltimore is in GREAT Shape
- Austin Has a Mission
…and Kansas City consistently ranks in the top 15 fattest cities in America.
Wouldn’t it be a great idea to write geo-targeted blog entries and stories like: Top Ten Fitness Centers in Austin, Texas - OR - How to Stay Fit in Baltimore During the Winter?

Or perhaps you don’t provide answers. Perhaps you could pose questions, such as:
Why is “karate” so much more popular in the Northeastern United States (PA, NY, MA) than the rest of the country?
So go ahead and cruise on over to Google Trends the next time you run out of ideas. Fiddle around for awhile, and I’m sure something will come up.
