Google Employees You Can Talk To Without Waiting in Line
I had a nice chat with some of the Googlers at PubCon in Las Vegas last month, and pointed out a few areas that could be improved in the Webmaster Tools section, such as letting us know where they came from when the crawler hits a 404 error page. They had some very intelligent things to say, and I was wondering myself why more people don’t take the opportunity to chat to Googlers other than Matt Cutts. But I put the thought out of my mind, which is why I’m not a blogger over at Search Engine Land with the likes of Danny Sullivan and Barry Schwartz:
So go check out 8 Googler Alternatives to Matt Cutts and read up on the profiles of each person. You never know when you might run into them at the bar after a conference. Impress them with your knowledge about their likes and dislikes (but not too much; they might think you are a stalker) and maybe ask a few of those burning questions like… “Do new subdomains inherent any of the link popularity of their parent domain? And, do you differentiate between a subdomain and a subhost, or do you treat them the same? In fact, why does the SEO world always say ’subdomain’ when really they mean ’subhost’?”
