Increase New Membership Sign Up Rates With Corporate Fitness Contests
Humans are social creatures, and many of us require motivation from others before embarking on a successful weight loss regimen. It is easy to give in or give up when you are fighting the battle alone. This is why group weight loss centers like Jenny Craig have been so successful - they offer a sense of camaraderie and friendly competition. The closest most health and fitness centers have come to emulating this, however, is by offering a few group fitness classes. Unfortunately, these do not replicate the type of social environment necessary to get most people out of their chair and into the gym. But here is an idea that will…
All of us have heard about a “Company Fitness Challenge” or “Corporate Weight Loss Challenge” at some point in our lives, and many of us have actually taken part in one of them. By promoting these “challenges” to local businesses, your health club can bring in new members at astonishing rates. Here is how it works:
- Each business will be given a signup sheet on which “challengers” are to provide their full contact details.
- Each challenger will then be provided with a Free X-month pass and a Free session with a personal fitness trainer.
- The health club will keep records of each challenger’s weight and/or body fat measurements.
- The Challenger at the end of the X-month period to have achieved the greatest fat loss receives a free X-month/year membership to the health club.
Because these guests are part of a challenge, and they have a social network motivating them to diet and train, it is likely that they will see greater results than a walk-in visitor. Results are what turn a free visitor into a paying member.
How can First Page Fitness help your club implement this program?
Imagine how much more effective such campaigns could be if each challenger were able to log in to a secure section on your website and keep track of their progress? Each challenger will receive their own username and password to access free tools such as a Diet Tracker, Weight Loss Tracker, and Training Log. At the end of the competition, they can print out graphs and charts to visually compare their progress with others in the office. Being able to see a line-graph of their progress further motivates the challenger to sign up for a real membership at the end of the challenge. Imagine how much more effective such campaigns could be if the sales person at your club had access to their progress (you must inform the challenger before logging in that the club may review their progress to help determine the best exercise routine) and could discuss the before and after statistics with the potential member over the phone. Imagine how much more effective such campaigns could be if you were to send out an email to each competitor congratulating them on their efforts and reminding them of the membership specials you are offering that month. First Page Fitness can help you do all of this and more! We can even track the follow-up emails to find out who has opened them, and who has clicked the link to your website from within the email.
